When Technology Turns into Art

IXFID is a living light sculpture that brings the atmosphere of sci-fi minimalism and organic engineering into your interior. The shape of the fixture evokes a new form of life, where technology intertwines with nature.

The light source of the entire object is a single, powerful RGB LED diode integrated into the upper head. Thanks to software control, IXFID can seamlessly change colors, pulse, or shine with a static tone according to your mood, time of day, or the character of the space.

The body of IXFID consists of a stainless steel corrugated hose, giving the fixture industrial strength and an original texture. Precisely guided PMMA (acrylic) optical fibers wrap around it like elegant field lines.

The Secret Behind the Name

The name IXFID holds a small secret. It is not a random cluster of letters. The sharp-edged geometry of both the base and the upper head follows a certain mathematical order. The Roman numeral nine (IX) is the key to the geometry of the entire sculpture...

Optical Illusion and Pure Physics

Technically, the most fascinating element of the IXFID fixture is how it manipulates optics and light. The geometric base contains no light source of its own.

Its intense glow is the result of the physical principle of light guidance – the rays are directed into it exclusively via PMMA fibers from the upper head. The fibers act as precise light guides, transferring the luminous flux from a single point throughout the entire body. The result is a pure visual illusion that defines the object's final, illuminated shape.

From 3D Printing to Final Assembly

The shaped parts of the base and head are manufactured using 3D printing technology, allowing for a complex and otherwise unachievable internal geometry. Each produced piece undergoes individual and meticulous testing of all electronics and optical paths. The entire object is then assembled by hand, with an emphasis on precision and functionality.
